Description
On Sunday July 2nd the NAFA festival hub brought to life with colour and festivities as it hosts the 2023 Community Pride Picnic. The first of its kind in Townsville, this event followed on from the Youth Pride Walk and was a family-friendly space dedicated to celebrating, supporting, and promoting our LGBTQIA+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, asexual, and more) community here in Townsville.
The Community Pride Picnic aimed to start the collective conversation about how we can ensure our city is a welcoming and a vibrant location for members of the many diverse groups who call our city home, and for members of LGBTQIA+ communities and their allies to have a safe and enjoyable space to celebrate and come together in support of all things pride.
Our wonderful picnic space, was located within the NAFA festival hub, that provided a relaxed and low-key environment for connection, conversation, fun activities, and service providers to exhibit and provide community support. We enjoyed the live music and all the festival feels that the NAFA festival hub had to offer. The picnic was enhanced by the onsite food trucks, the NAFA bar, and opportunity to sit back and relax.
The event also gave participants the opportunity to book into one of the several Pride-friendly shows and activities happening and then flowing right into the evening. Thank you to those who dress up, showed up and celebrated with us at the 2023 Community Pride Picnic!
